A group of 3 affordable dwellings at Kingsway in Widnes, part of a larger development incorporating the larger site at nearby Lacey Street.
-
The design complements the existing traditional properties, replicating some of the brick detailing, which also adding a contemporary twist.
-
Designed to LifeTime Homes standards to maximise opportunities, short and long term.
-
To minimise carbon footprint, the houses are constructed using locally supplied materials, and have distinctive, durable, re-cyclable galvanised steel rainwater pipes and canopy supports. All timber used for the doors, stairs and skirtings is from renewable forests.

The houses incorporate a number of environmentally-friendly products to conserve resources and reduce tenants’ bills.
-
High insulation levels in the walls, floor and roof; double glazing and full draught-proofing; high efficiency boilers; along with the sun tunnel will all help to conserve gas and electricity.
-
Low flush WCs; low flow rate showers; spray taps; and water butts are also provided to save water.
-
The "instant" green ivy hedge in the front gardens is anti-graffiti and easy maintenance, and will soon establish to form an attractive frontage to the houses as well as providing natural habitat for birds and insects.
