What is Sustainable Development?

... It's all about "Improving Everybody's Lot".

...whether thats the client, end user, local communities and neighbourhoods, and the wider environment.

Sustainability, in its broadest sense, focusses on the three main Social Value Act pillars of People, Prosperity and Planet. Being aware of the impact of design in these key, and often integrated areas, enables us to ensure that as many benefits as possible, for as many as possible, are incorporated into our projects, both new build and refurbishment.

This could be in terms of providing cost savings for end-users, for example, by maximising high levels of insulation to help reduce heating costs; by using 'Home Zones' to make roads safer and to encourage community interaction; or by specification of sun tunnels to help save resources and reduce electricity bills.

This culture of sustainability touches every area of our business, inside and out. We take our commitment seriously, and, in 2012, were the first architectural practice in the UK to be assessed and accredited by NQA against the BS8900 standard (Sustainability Assessed).

Denovo Design Sponsored Charity

The Denovo crew are delighted to announce that world renowned, global conservation charity,  Chester Zoo, is their sponsored charity for 2019.  Registered charity number 306077.

Over the coming months the team at Denovo Design will help to raise awareness of the Zoo's 'Act for Wildlife' campaigns, the importance of conserving species  #PreventingExtinction and the biodiversity of their environments, and how we all can help, even if in a small way, by changing daily habits, such as use of plastic.

Watch this space for forthcoming fundraising events - be great if you could join us!
