Currently on site in Preston, with a new build extension, to provide additional meeting rooms for Unite the Union’s regional office.
-
The design utilises SIP (Structural Insulated) panels , (see images in slide show).
-
These are a load bearing panel which comprise a rigid insulation core bonded between two sheets of material, such as plywood or plaster board.

Modern Methods of Construction

for Unite the Union
Preston
Benefits are many:
-
These are thermally efficient and cost effective, as although more expensive initially, they do not necessarily require wet trades or brick layers and are quick to fit, reducing construction time.
-
Also, IP Building Systems do not necessarily require roof trusses, therefore providing an additional habitable room in the roof in domestic properties..
-
The SIP Panels create more internal floor space for the same external dimensions in comparison to masonry construction. This is because a SIP structure provides excellent strength and insulation in a smaller wall width.
-
The insulation is integral to the panel and therefore eliminates the need and cost for cavity insulation.
