• Design concept for a luxury development of 40 stunning stilt houses/water villas to add commercial value to an existing 5 star hotel on the same site.

• The design was required to exceed visitor expectation, and maximises use of glazing to capitalise on the breathtaking and uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean.

• The new development incorporates a new ‘stilted’ restaurant and other amenities such as ‘floating bars’.

Design Concept

• Each villa is designed to have complete privacy from the communal boardwalk which links the development, whilst connecting to the ocean with an infinity pool and direct, stepped access for snorkelling, swimming, etc.

• The concept for an underwater restaurant was also part of the brief.

• Practical challenges included the difficulty of accessing building materials due to the remote location.
